Okay, I have to admit, I don’t travel much
(well, as much as I’d like) but I have travelled enough to pick up a few tips
both from experience and from some experts on how to travel smart.
It’s seems simple enough. Going away on a
trip so you need to pack. Whether it’s for a weekend, a week or longer, it
always ends up being a lot more stressful than it should be
There are so many things involved in going
on a trip that just picking out what to wear while going to the destination should be easy.
I’ve gathered a few tips for all your
travel needs that I feel will help make going away a little smoother.
Airports aren’t the most
appealing of places. They’re crowded, noisy and it seems like it takes forever
to go through all the necessary steps to just get on the plane.
The last thing you want is to be
uncomfortable, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t be stylish.
Choose pieces that are breathable, and can
stretch but not tight. My favourite look is skinny or boyfriend jeans, a
t-shirt and flats or sandals. With sandals, pick ones that are easy on and off,
as the last thing you want is to be fumbling around in line at security. A
leather jacket or blazer travels well.
Depending on the weather, boots are also
good but try to keep the heel low and chunky.
For your carryon, go for something that’s
big enough to fit everything you need (laptops, tablet, phone, ipod, wallet,
magazines, etc…) on the plane. I’ve learnt it’s much easier to carry one large
bag; you can switch to an everyday bag once you’ve reached your destination.
Snacking in airports is not only scary but
also expensive, when looking for snacks before flight and during try for
healthy ones but make sure to stay away from salty foods with nuts, as the salt
combined with high altitudes can result in bloating. Also make sure to drink
lots of water; I think that’s the one purchase that’s worth the price.
Taking care of your skin on an airplane is
extremely important. Carry moisturizer and lip balm, as well as a moisturizing
hand sanitizer. Also a travel size bottle of face mist
keeps your skin fresh.
I love to bring scarfs with me when I go on
planes, as they can double as blankets. Perfect for evening flights, as they
tend to get chilly. Bring an extra pair of sock with you, that way during the
flight you can take your shoes off without having to worry about germs and they
also help reduce swelling.
When travelling by car, I think the same
rules can be applied, but you have more versatility, as your biggest worry is
traffic but it’s a lot easier to be stuck in a car for long hours than an
airplane.
I love a big bag like this for travelling. It'll fit all your things and is chic.
