What's in your bag?

Being a girl is fun and stylish. Shoes, clothes, accessories, and handbags, we get to enjoy a lot, but that doesn’t mean things always go as planned. You never know what might happen in a day so being prepared is important with a few basic necessities in your bag, here's what I always have.

Tide to go stick: It’s happened. You’re enjoying something delicious to eat but spill some on yourself…don’t worry, this little stick will save the day.

Nail file: There’s nothing worse than dealing with a broken nail all day. This one is pretty and comes in a plastic case so it won't break.

Hand sanitizer: I’m a bit of a germaphobe so whether you're carrying a small bottle of this brand, or another it definitely helps.

Lip-Balm: There's nothing I dislike more than dry lips.

Hand cream: Dry hands can be uncomfortable.

Hair tie and bobby pins: Whether your hair is giving you issues, it gets windy out or you just want it out of your face for a bit, carrying around these will help you out. I usually carry 1 tie and 4 pins.

Tissue: You never know when you might need one and where you’ll be able to find them.

Granola bar: Hunger pains aren’t fun. I love Kind Snacks, as they’re organic and full of yummy and healthy benefits. Perfect for when you need a little pick-me-up.

Band-Aids: Keep a few of different sizes and kinds for whatever need be.

This may seem like a lot of items, but remember, they’re all very small and can fit in pockets or into a small cosmetics bag. It’s always better to carry small items you may need then to worry when you do need them.

Travel Smart Part 2

Your skin goes through a lot when you’re travelling. The dry and germy air isn't a pleasant atmosphere, so it's important to take the right steps in keeping it clean and healthy looking.

For morning flights, if I'm going to my selected destination, I always wear make up because most likely I'll be out and about all day, and that's okay but to keep your face looking refresh takes a few simple steps.

1. Keep your makeup simple. Light foundation, neutral eye and mascara are all you really need. Swipe on some gloss and you're good to go.
2. As previously posted, keep a small bottle of face mist with you to apply during the flight and before you land, this will keep your skin feeling fresh.
3. Keep a small makeup bag with you during the flight, with cream blush and mascara. They'll help you look refreshed and awake before you land.

If you're travelling in the evening/late at night to your destination or going home, going makeup free with moisturizer is the best, so once you arrive all you need to do is wash your face.

A makeup bag for your bag will be essential when travelling as you can carry all the necessary products. It can also save you room in your luggage if you take travel size products.

A neutral bag like this is chic for travelling and easy to clean.
The Overnighter

The price tag may be large, but the final result is worth it. Curling your eyelashes will make you look awake, especially after a long day of travelling.

Shu Umera Eyelash Curler

Not only will blush put some colour back into your face after flying, but going with cream will help moisturize as well.
Stila Convertible Colour Blush

Look awake and make your eyes pop after flying with a swipe of mascara (waterproof optional).
L'Oreal Voluminous Waterproof Mascara

Keep a neutral colour pencil eyeliner with built in smudger in your bag, so you can do any touch ups before landing.
Clinique Quick Liner for Eyes

Flying makes skin and lips dry, so go for a lip balm with a light tint.
Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint Moisturizer

Keeping your hands moisturized during travelling is very important. Go for a cream that isn't greasy and absorbs fairly quickly.
L'Occitane Hand Cream

With a few simple steps and products, your skin will be ready for travel!

Travel Smart

Okay, I have to admit, I don’t travel much (well, as much as I’d like) but I have travelled enough to pick up a few tips both from experience and from some experts on how to travel smart.

It’s seems simple enough. Going away on a trip so you need to pack. Whether it’s for a weekend, a week or longer, it always ends up being a lot more stressful than it should be

There are so many things involved in going on a trip that just picking out what to wear while going to the destination should be easy.

I’ve gathered a few tips for all your travel needs that I feel will help make going away a little smoother.

Airports aren’t the most appealing of places. They’re crowded, noisy and it seems like it takes forever to go through all the necessary steps to just get on the plane.

The last thing you want is to be uncomfortable, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t be stylish.

Choose pieces that are breathable, and can stretch but not tight. My favourite look is skinny or boyfriend jeans, a t-shirt and flats or sandals. With sandals, pick ones that are easy on and off, as the last thing you want is to be fumbling around in line at security. A leather jacket or blazer travels well.

Depending on the weather, boots are also good but try to keep the heel low and chunky.

For your carryon, go for something that’s big enough to fit everything you need (laptops, tablet, phone, ipod, wallet, magazines, etc…) on the plane. I’ve learnt it’s much easier to carry one large bag; you can switch to an everyday bag once you’ve reached your destination.

Snacking in airports is not only scary but also expensive, when looking for snacks before flight and during try for healthy ones but make sure to stay away from salty foods with nuts, as the salt combined with high altitudes can result in bloating. Also make sure to drink lots of water; I think that’s the one purchase that’s worth the price.

Taking care of your skin on an airplane is extremely important. Carry moisturizer and lip balm, as well as a moisturizing hand sanitizer. Also a travel size bottle of face mist keeps your skin fresh.

I love to bring scarfs with me when I go on planes, as they can double as blankets. Perfect for evening flights, as they tend to get chilly. Bring an extra pair of sock with you, that way during the flight you can take your shoes off without having to worry about germs and they also help reduce swelling.

When travelling by car, I think the same rules can be applied, but you have more versatility, as your biggest worry is traffic but it’s a lot easier to be stuck in a car for long hours than an airplane.

I love a big bag like this for travelling. It'll fit all your things and is chic.

Balenciaga Classic Weekender

A pair of dark skinny jeans are a must. Comfort and will go with everything.
Current/Elliott High Waist Skinny Ankle Jean

Go for a pair of distressed ones to mix up your outfit.
AG Skinny Distressed Ankle Jean

I love blazers, and they're amazing for travelling. Roll up the sleeves and you've got a chic look.
Saint Laurent Tuxedo Jacket

Leather jacket. Soft and comfy, will give your outfit an edge. Try a lighter wash with some embellishments.
IRO Mottled Leather Moto Jacket

Flats are easy, comfy and chic. Go for a black or nude (depending on your outfit).
Lanvin Ballet Flat

Leave the strappy sandals for your trip, and go for simple thong ones for travelling. Get studded ones for an edge or nude ones for simplicity.
Balenciaga Giant Gold Studded Thong Sandal

A flat boot that you can slid on and off is great for travelling. Especially when it's colder out.
Jimmy Choo Harley Flat Ankle Boot

A chunky and low heeled boot is comfy and easy to wear.
Isabel Marant The Dicker Suede Ankle Boot

I love scarfs for travelling, especially on planes. Get a large one that can double as a blanket.
Classic Cashmere Travel Wrap

Your skin will feel fresh with a quick spray.

Evian Mineral Water Facial Spray

Just because you're spending hours in an airport and plane, doesn't mean you can't look good. All it takes are a few simple pieces to make travelling a little more comfortable and easy. Hope your next trip will be just that!
