Summer Office Style

Dressing in the summer can be challenging at times. When it’s a hot and humid day but calls for rain later, just figuring out to wear when going out can be difficult, but when you have to work, it can be even harder.

Proper work attire is not only important but in the summer, can be vital to staying cool. You don’t want to wear something that’s not only inappropriate but makes you feel uncomfortable all day.

While I love wearing shorts, short dresses/skirts and tank tops when it’s hot out, they are an office no-no, but there are a few ways to dress for work and look stylish.

Dresses/Skirts. Super comfy and cool but let’s face it, some styles just aren’t great for the work place.

How to wear them? Pick knee length in a comfy fabric like cotton or cotton-silk blend, something that’s breathable.

Pair this dress with a light white cardigan, or blazer and flat sandals, or flats/pumps in beige. Worried about a dress being too low cut? Wear a thin cami/tanktop underneath.

Pair this with a colour short sleeve top or a white tank (like below) and a cropped black blazer or if you want to go even more casual, roll up the cuffs on a denim jacket and finish off with black sandals or flats/pumps.

Tank tops can be a bit tricky as you generally don’t want to bear your shoulders, but if you cover with a light cardigan, cropped blazer or jean jacket (depending on how casual you can go), it’s pretty safe.

A silk tank top like this will go with pants or a skirt, just make sure you cover up your shoulders.

A white blazer is not only cool for summer, but chic. Roll up the cuffs for extra added "coolness".

Lightweight cardigans are great for those summer work days indoors.

I love maxi dresses in the summer, especially as there are many styles to choose from.

Pair this with a white cropped jacket and brown sandals or flats/pumps.

Though skirts and dresses are more comfortable in the summer, pants can be just as comfy if you go with a cropped style.

Pair this with a colourful short-sleeved blouse and beige sandals or flats/pumps.

These are just some of the ways to dress for work in the summer, and remember, it doesn't have to be stressful. Picking up a few key pieces will help make those hot days a little more bearable.
